americans were kidnapped in mexico, just across the border from brownsville, texas. traveling in this white minivan with north carolina plates when they came under fire. the video appears to show a woman forced into the back of a pickup truck by men with guns, then two others who appear hurts, loaded next to her. the mexican president says that four are going to biomedicine, less expensive in mexico as hundreds of thousands of americans do each year. and that the could've been mistakenly targeted. the white house today saying it's closely following the situation. speak of these sorts of attacks are unacceptable. our thoughts are with the families of these individuals and we stand ready to provide all appropriate counsel or assistance. >> reporter: minna morris is under a four do not travel advisory for the united states government, issued for iraq, iran, and afghanistan. it's been with warring factions of the drug cartel for decades. journali frio s is aomniep

>> the strain after opening the emergency exit. >> reporter: it began long 4609 from los angeles to boston, 45 minutes before its scheduled landing. francisco torres allegedly stabbed a flight attendant three times with the handle of a broken >> norah: after he was asked whether he had tampered with an exit door. passengers tackled and helped restrain torres until the plane landed. >> just laying there were six able bodies on top of them. >> authority said that torres said he made the weapon and wanted to jump out of the plane because he believed a flight up to -- flight attendant was trying to kill him. just hours earlier bird struck southwest flight 3923 causing an engine to catch fire filling the cabin with smoke. the huff anatole fort lauderdale flight quickly returned to cuba where passengers safely evacuated via the emergency

think so much. to ohio where there was another nor from celtic train wreck, raising questions about the safety record just a month after the toxic train derailment in east palestine. the ntsb is on the scene and no injuries reported. roxana saberi is there. >> dashcam video capture at the harrowing moment when it came hurtling off the tracks, this time near springfield, ohio, flinging debris into the air. >> you guys are so close to the tracks. >> very close, we were so lucky. >> reporter: he was on its way to work when three railcars careen into the road next door. >> my first thought was i hope nothing hazardous was on a train and everybody is okay. >> reporter: he feared a repeat of the toxic train derailment in east palestine over 200 miles away. but authorities say that none of the 28 cars that went off the mark in springfield leaked

hazardous material, the train had 212 railcars. >> there were other cars with hazardous materials on them, but as they were not affected by the derailment, we do not have a situation at this time. >> reporter: also on saturday a union pacific train went off the tracks in southern kansas. in early this morning at least three cars on this gravel train derailed in maynard, texas. >> are we having more derailments than before? or does it seem that way? speak of the short answer is you look at the statistics and what we have at the moment is a greater awareness of the fact that they do happen. and that's good, because it will continue to focus on safety. >> reporter: norfolk southern said it's cooperating with investigations into its recent derailments including this one in springfield, the company announced that it will improve its network of sensors along the tracks that detect wheel bearings overheating, which the ntsb says have been in pale

palestine. transportation secretary pete buttigieg says tougher laws are needed, norah. >> norah: roxana saberi, thank you very much. tonight 23 people are charged with domestic terrorism after a violent protest at the side of a planned police and fire training facility near atlanta, activists all in black attacked the construction site and officers late sunday with fire to fireworks, molotov cocktails, and bricks. many arrested were from outside atlanta and their goal was anarchy. tonight some breaking news in utah, a large search for possible victims in an avalanche and big cotton candy, that's about 7 miles east of salt lake city. the threat of avalanche danger is high and some areas following last week's snow storms according to the utah avalanche center. this comes as large parts of northern california remain under winter storm warnings in the southern part of the state pleading for help with menu

presidential caucuses this friday. ther m>> we wil b watch about to the manhattan investigation into former president term. >> that's right, a source tells cbs news that hope hicks, the former aide to president donald trump met with investigators today. they are probing the former presidents hush money payment to stormy daniels an adult film star during the 2016 campaign. >> norah: robert costa with all that news, thank you so much. there is news tonight about senator john fetterman's health, the pennsylvania democrat admitted himself to the hospital almost three weeks ago to receive treatment for clinical depression. today his chief of staff posted several photos at the medical center and discussed where safety rate regulations, saying that john fetterman is well on his way to recovery, grateful for all of the well wishes and will be back soon.
